The construction of this periscope is acceptable but the F.O.V. (Field Of View) is a little small. What this means is what you see is a small image surrounded by a lot of dark (the color of the inside of the tube).For a simulation, look through a long tube with no optics such as a wrapping paper tube. Still, it is good enough to use to look over fences or around corners; and it seems to be built fairly sturdy. A better periscope is C-Star Educational Series Periscope, although it costs more at Amazon, I found one locally for $12.00. 4 of 4 people found the following review helpful viewfinder is so small,  = Durability:  = Fun: = Educational: This review is from: Periscope (Toy) Very durable plastic periscope. When we got this for Christmas and installed it on their "fort", it immediately became a removable weapon for them to beat each other with, and to throw down the slide, off the side, etc. No one has gotten hurt, and it hasn't broken yet, which speaks for its durability, but this toy has also spent a fair amount of time in time outs already. Of course, they also removed and did the same thing with the telescope that they received. It isn't specifically the toy, but I do wish that there were some better way to secure it to the playhouse. I understand the want/need to slide it up down, however, so hopefully the kids will just grow out of this phase. |
